Meditations
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius (c. 161–180 AD) is one of history's most remarkable books — a private journal never intended for publication, written by a Roman Emperor to himself. In it, Aurelius wrestles with the Stoic philosophy he tried to live by: the discipline of the mind, the acceptance of fate, the importance of virtue over glory, and the humbling smallness of human life against the vastness of time.
